Staff Clinical Neuropsychologist Yayci Patiño is from Colombia. She earned her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. She also received her doctorate in clinical psychology, with a focus in neuropsychology and Latino mental health from William James College in Boston. 

Dr. Patiño completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior’s Cultural Neuropsychology Track – Lifespan. She trained within their cultural and bilingual lifespan neuropsychology track. Patiño also completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the Hispanic Neuropsychiatric Center of Excellence – Lifespan Neuropsychology and Cultural Neuropsychology, where she served as their chief fellow.

Dr. Patiño joined the Inpatient Psychology Department in 2022 as a staff neuropsychologist and practices at both University Campus and Bartram Campus. In her role as a staff neuropsychologist, she provides bilingual services in English and Spanish to patients and their families during their adjustment to deficits and lifestyle changes after experiencing neurological injuries. She also collaborates with the worker’s compensation team at Brooks, providing expertise on bilingual inpatient neuropsychological evaluations and psychotherapeutic services.

Dr. Patiño’s clinical and research interests include cross-cultural neuropsychology, neurodegenerative disorders, aging, stroke and community-based interventions to promote cognitive health.
