Raine Osborne, PT, DPT, EdD, Director of the Brooks Clinical Research Center, was published in the Physical Therapy Journal of Policy, Administration, and Leadership last month for his article titled ‘Professional Engagement: A Consensus Definition and Key Indicator Behaviors for Physical Therapists.’

The study, led by Dr. Osborne in collaboration with Dr. Gregory Hartley, PT, DPT from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, aimed to develop a definition and identify key indicator behaviors of professional engagement in the physical therapy profession. Results yielded a consensus definition and a list of 7 key behaviors. The researchers are hopeful that this may be useful in furthering the understanding of physical therapists’ professional identity formation, as well as help to develop a measure of professional engagement and further investigate associated antecedents and outcomes.
