Today, we’re going to be showing you how to perform a quick and efficient stretch break during virtual meetings or online schooling.

These quick stretches will cover different areas of your body that can get tight after prolonged sitting or working on a computer.

The first stretch is for your neck. You’re going to sit up tall, grab a hold of the side of your chair and tilt your head away until you feel a pulling on the side of your neck. You can add your upper hand on the top of your head for a further stretch. Hold for at least 30 seconds and then try the other side.

Next, we’re going to stretch your chest, as these muscles get tight with poor posture. Clasp your hands behind your back. Pinch your shoulder blades and lift your arms until you feel a stretch across your chest. If you have shoulder issues, a second option is in a doorframe. Now, we’re going to move to the legs.

Start by crossing one ankle over the opposite knee. From here, you can either lean forward or simply grasp your knee and pull towards your chest. You should feel a stretch across your glutes. Repeat on the other side.

Lastly, you want to stand up from your chair, placing one hand on the desk or back of chair for balance. Step forward into a lunge position and tuck your pelvis under, slightly leaning forward into the front leg. You should feel a stretch across the top of the thigh of the back leg.

Most importantly, with increased time on the computer, you want to make sure you schedule frequent move breaks.

Get up, stretch and move around.
