How our nurses support patients

Nurses at Brooks provide a multitude of instrumental care and services to support patients, caregivers and families after a traumatic injury or illness. From necessary medical care for patients to advocating for services, continuing care options and providing next steps for recovery, nurses are instrumental in the exceptional physical rehabilitation care provided at Brooks.

National recognition

The nursing program at Brooks is one of the best in the country. We are proud to be Magnet Recognized โ€“ the first in Florida and 1 of only 5 hospitals in the state to hold this highest professional honor for nursing.

In addition, our nurse practice transition program is accredited by the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). This is considered the gold standard in nurse residency programs with only 230 programs accredited nationally. Brooks Rehabilitation is the only rehabilitation system of care to have earned this accreditation.

Innovation in nursing

Our nurses are at the core of Brooksโ€™ nursing program's success. Many nurses across our system of care have initiated programs and processes to improve and empower their coworkers' careers.

ACHIEVE Program

Designed to support new nursing hires in the Home Health division to reinforce key competencies critical to the success of home health care, nurses can feel comfortable and confident in their job duties during the new hire onboarding process.

Mental Wellness Hour Initiative

Our nurses recognize that their emotional well-being is as crucial as their physical well-being. Each quarter, nursing teams across the system get together to discuss issues and participate in activities that reduce stress and the stigma around mental health.

Quality Improvement

Our nurses’ commitment to safety is second to none. At Brooks, nurses are empowered through the โ€œGood Catch Programโ€ to provide insights and feedback to patient care processes and procedures. The goal is to foster an inclusive, positive environment where all nurses feel empowered to speak up and contribute.

Honors and awards

Whether national recognition from patients or employee recognition programs, our nurses consistently make a difference in every interaction they have across Brooks.

The DAISY Award

This award's mission is to honor extraordinary nurses who make a profound difference in the lives of people around the world. Brooks is proud to participate in The DAISY Award program with several nurses being honored each year.

Artist of the Quarter

A quarterly employee award program that empowers employees to nominate their peers who go above and beyond for patient care or support each other for system-wide recognition.

Celebrate the Stars

A yearly employee award ceremony that promotes the biggest change-makers and innovators across the system of care. Brooks is proud to award this system-wide honor to several nurses across several divisions each year.
