Sports Therapy

Brooks is offering telehealth visits for all outpatient clinics. These visits will take about 20-30 minutes and allow you to virtually see and speak with your therapist to review exercises and other treatments. Please call our Central Intake Unit at (904) 345-7277 (option 3) to schedule your telehealth visit.

The Brooks Center for Sports Therapy (CST) provides specialized athletic rehabilitation for athletes ranging from casual to highly-competitive and elite. The CST is staffed by clinicians who are board certified in orthopedics and sports therapy. Our clinicians provide care for athletes throughout the continuum of care, from the field to the clinic, and are experts in return-to-sport procedures. The CST is a proud partner with the University of North Florida to provide rehabilitation services for all athletic teams. In addition to treating the athletic population, our clinicians have the experience and expertise to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

We combine our staff’s expertise with highly specialized equipment to allow for in-depth evaluation and rehabilitation of athletes including:

Blood Flow Restriction Training

Game-changing injury recovery therapy that produces dramatic results with diminished atrophy and loss of strength from disuse after an injury. This is used to improve strength, endurance and hypertrophy at lower loads for sensitive or healing tissues.

Dartfish Biomechanical Analysis

Video technology and a frame-by-frame breakdown allows the clinician to analyze the alignment, balance and form of specific movements. This technology is commonly used to evaluate running, baseball and football throwing and golf swings.

AlterG Treadmill

By using pressurized air around the midsection, this unique treadmill allows athletes to walk and run even when they lack the ability to bear full weight. This allows for reconditioning to begin sooner in the recovery process.

Biodex Isokinetic Assessments

This evaluation measures the peak torque of joint movements to assess muscle strength. For injuries to knees, shoulders, wrists and elbows, muscle strength assessments allow for an objective comparison to pre-injury strength.

Aquatic Therapy

Our aquatic therapy pool is ideal for athletes who want to continue cardiovascular training but cannot bear full weight. It provides an interim training option until full recovery is achieved.

Brooks Sports Medicine Program

Based at the CST, the Brooks Sports Medicine Program partners with many local high schools and community sport teams to provide their sports medicine services. Using a multidisciplinary approach of athletic trainers, physical therapists and physicians, we help athletes of various sports and backgrounds achieve their goals on and off the field.

The CST also partners with the Brooks Motion Analysis Center when a more in-depth assessment of muscle activity, force generation and joint angles is required for patients after ACL reconstruction.

If you are interested in developing a partnership with the Brooks Sports Medicine Program, please contact us at (904) 854-2090.
