Peer Mentoring

Our Peer Mentoring Program provides a safe place where the newly disabled and their families can discuss the challenges they face, their feelings and questions with someone who successfully navigates life after injury.

At Brooks Rehabilitation, we believe in the power of mentorship. We have mentors available who have experienced stroke, limb loss, brain injury and more.

Our mentorship program can help provide:

  • Emotional support
  • Social connections
  • Tips and tricks to daily life
  • Help with local resources
  • Assistance in setting and achieving goals

Peer mentor FAQs

Learn more about our program through some frequently asked questions.

All mentors at Brooks Rehabilitation are persons with a disability or have firsthand knowledge of supporting someone through their trauma. They have been living a model life for a minimum of one-year post-diagnosis.

All mentors are screened through our onboarding process and background-checked to ensure the safety of those entrusted to the program.

All of our mentors have been trained under industry-proven standards with a focus on the five stages of change and rediscovery, the ethics of mentoring, assistance in goal setting, communication techniques and cultural diversity.

Peer mentors are available to patients, residents and former patients and their families at all Brooks locations and community programs.
