Brooks patient relearns how to walk before graduation
Back to physical health resource hub
On April 21, Sarah Stephens was in a terrible car accident when hit by a driver who ran a red light. She suffered a broken jaw and sustained a major brain injury. After 11 days at UF Health Jacksonville, Sarah was transferred to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. She was unable to eat or drink, wasnโt able to use her right hand or leg and was unsure where she was or what happened. With the help of intensive rehabilitation, support from family and hard work on her part, Sarah was able to attend her graduation at Duncan U. Fletcher High School tonight and walk to accept her diploma. Congratulations to the class of 2019 and especially to Sarah. We are so proud of you!
