Have you ever pondered about what occurs behind the scenes in a hospital pharmacy setting?

The pharmacy team consists of various roles which include licensed pharmacy technicians and clinical pharmacists to ensure patients receive the right medication when needed. Behind the scenes of the pharmacy, we have pharmacy technicians preparing medications for patient use; this includes oral and intravenous medications that will be administered by our nursing team members. All of our clinical pharmacists are specially trained and have earned a doctorate degree in pharmacy! As such, pharmacists are medication experts highly trained in preventing medication errors and promoting a safe environment for our patients!

Pharmacy team members are working behind the scenes to ensure that every medication will be safe for our patients to use. Such programs that are currently in place at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital include antibiotic stewardship monitoring and high-risk medication dosing which help promote patient safety.

Here at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, we have amazing pharmacy team members to care for our patients! As the new pharmacy manager of Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital – Bartram Campus, it is my plan to further expand pharmacy services to include becoming an integral member of the patient care team and provide medication education directly to patients and their families prior to inpatient discharge.
