Acoustic Neuroma

Acoustic Neuroma is a growth on the nerve that carries information related to hearing/balance from the inner ear to the brain for interpretation.

These growths are usually benign and grow very slowly. They will usually only be monitored without opting for surgical removal because they grow so slowly that they usually do not cause significant problems. Surgery would be recommended should they grow to the point that they are pressing on structures in the brain or causing issues with dizziness/balance/ hearing that are very disruptive to a patient’s daily function.
