Hi, and welcome to the Brooks kitchen safety series.

My name is Sylvie and I am an occupational therapist at Brooks Rehabilitation.

Today, we’re going to talk about ways to make life easier by adapting some tools you use in the kitchen.

This is foam tubing. It makes grasping utensils easier and puts less stress on the joints.

This is a weighted spoon. It helps stabilize hand and arm movement for those that experience tremors when eating.

This is a rocker knife. It allows cutting food one handed for those unable to use a knife and fork at the same time.

And the non-slip mat, you place it underneath plates or bowls to prevent slipping.

There’s a multitude of adaptive equipment to make your life easier in the kitchen.

Ask your occupational therapist for more information.
