Carlos was a construction worker and framer, but in 2020, at 32 years old, Carlos fell from a roof while setting trusses. He found mobility and the lack of independence-friendly modifications in his house to be the most difficult challenges after his injury. He went through the SCI day treatment program, and he and his family are active in the Adaptive Sports and Recreation program. Carlos frequently uses the NRC and is looking forward to learning how to drive with hand controls. Carlos is comfortable talking about all aspects of living with a spinal cord injury. However, he has not returned to work or traveled much yet.
