At 58 years old, Chuck was involved in a parachuting accident. He was intubated for five days, initially unable to communicate, and suffered from double vision and weakness in his left leg. Chuck continues to live with weakness in his left leg and memory issues. Still, he has been able to return to a primarily independent life with the support of his wife. His biggest challenges have been accepting who he is today versus who he saw himself as before the accident and understanding how to manage his memory challenges daily. Chuck and his wife live locally and are available to talk to individuals and families about the challenges ahead. Chuck wants survivors and their families to know that recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep going; you can do this!
