Kate Cavka, PT, DPT, NCS
Clinician-Scientist
Kate Cavka is a clinician scientist with the Brooks Rehabilitation Clinical Research Center (BRCRC). In 2009, she received her bachelor’s in exercise science at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla., and in 2012, she received her doctor of physical therapy at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.
Cavka pursued her interest in neurological physical therapy by completing a neurological physical therapy residency with Brooks Rehabilitation in 2014 and became a board certified specialist. As a clinician scientist, she assists with the development and implementation of studies within the neurological research program in the BRCRC. Cavka’s primary research involvement focuses on respiratory function and locomotor recovery following spinal cord injury.

- Advanced neurological clinical practice
- Use of advanced technological equipment for clinical use
- Teaching/mentoring of students and clinicians
- Assisting in clinical program development for individuals using diaphragm stimulator following spinal cord injury
