Two of North Florida’s largest providers of in-home medical services have joined forces.

Brooks Rehabilitation, the region’s leader in post-acute rehabilitation services, has announced the acquisition of AmeriCare Home Health.  The combined organization will be named Brooks AmeriCare Home Health, and will remain focused on providing nursing, therapy, medical and other support services in the home. AmeriCare co-founders, Anthony Hicks and Tom Gibson, will lead the combined organization.

“We’re extremely pleased to be aligning with Brooks Rehabilitation,” said Hicks. “They have a stellar reputation, not only locally, but nationally. Brooks’ commitment to top notch patient care is directly in line with the AmeriCare culture.”

“With all of the changes occurring in the home care industry, this strategic alliance will leverage each company’s best practices and position us to be even more successful in this evolving marketplace.”

Brooks AmeriCare will cover 23 counties in Northeast and Central Florida, making it the largest home care agency in the area. This expanded service area will complement Brooks’ other post-acute services, including inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, outpatient therapy, and community programs.

“Home care is a critical component of our system of care and the demand will only grow as our population ages,” said Doug Baer, CEO of Brooks Rehabilitation.  “We believe this partnership will ultimately make us a much stronger home care agency that focuses on delivering the highest quality patient care.”
