Post-Doctoral Fellow
Katherine earned her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Florida (UF) in 2024, with a concentration in Neuromuscular Plasticity, and also completed a graduate certificate in Implementation Science in 2024 through the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics in the UF College of Medicine. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow with the Brooks Rehabilitation–University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions Research Collaboration. Katherine has been with Brooks Rehabilitation since 2018, first serving as a psychometrist in Behavioral Medicine and as a clinical study coordinator for the Musculoskeletal Research Program. Her research has focused on fear-learning and psychological processes after concussion, as well as autonomic nervous system dysfunction following mild traumatic brain injury (TBI). She has contributed to the validation of the Post-Concussion Symptom Catastrophizing Scale, a Brooks Rehabilitation-led initiative, and has published work on the Fear Avoidance Model for persisting symptoms after concussion. In addition to her research role, Katherine is now an instructor in the University of Florida Doctor of Physical Therapy program, where she teaches Evidence-Based Practice and Health Promotion and Wellness. She is also the principal investigator of a project funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute: the TBI Health Research Innovation and Education Partnership (THRIVE). THRIVE is an advisory group across the Brooks system made up of individuals with lived experience with traumatic brain injury, clinicians, and researchers who work together to help inform priority questions and outcomes research related to traumatic brain injury at Brooks.
