Discharge to Community
The percentage of patients who are discharged home after receiving inpatient rehabilitation.

Functional Improvement
Inpatient rehabilitation focuses on improving an individual’s ability to perform activities of daily living that support independence. This measurement tracks improvement for key recovery indicators of a patient’s self-care and mobility.
Ischemic vs. Hemorrhagic Stroke
- An ischemic stroke occurs when a blocked artery stops blood flow to the brain.
- A hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel bursts and bleeds into the brain.
Traumatic vs. Non-Traumatic Brain Injury
- Non-traumatic brain injuries are due to medical issues, like infections, tumors and other conditions, rather than an external impact. These injuries may develop suddenly or over time and are linked to conditions such as stroke, cardiac arrest and serious illness. Get more information about acquired brain injuries.
- A traumatic brain injury happens when an external force, like a fall, car crash or sports impact, causes the brain to abruptly shift inside the skull. This movement can bruise brain tissue, damage nerves or cause bleeding. Find out more about traumatic brain injuries.
Complete SCI vs Incomplete SCI
- A complete SCI is a total loss of motor and sensory function below the injury location.
