Continuing to expand its first-class educational programs, the Brooks Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) announced it has been granted Candidacy Status for an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency in Orlando by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE).
The program, which will begin on July 10, 2023, is currently accepting applicants now through April 16, 2023. “The faculty and staff of the Brooks Institute of Higher Learning couldn’t be more excited to be bringing our educational expertise and brand to the Orlando region,” said Bob Rowe, PT, DPT, DMT, MHS, FAAOMPT, Executive Director of the Brooks Institute of Higher Learning.
According to Rowe, residents receive an enriching and rewarding experience that prepares them to face the challenges of managing complex patients. This educational training places them in an elite level of practice only attained by a handful of physical therapist clinicians within the U.S.
The Brooks IHL Orthopaedic Residency program prepares its residents to educate and care for complex orthopaedic populations. The one-year program consists of three components that include didactic and psychomotor classes, clinical mentoring and unique learning experiences. In addition, the development of case presentations and written reports prepare the resident for participation in professional conferences and potential submission for publication.
Other physical therapy residency programs offered by Brooks include: Orthopaedics (Jacksonville), Women’s Health, Geriatrics, Neurology (Jacksonville and Daytona) and Sports, as well as an Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship. These programs are the backbone of the IHL, which provides world-class educational opportunities to the local and regional healthcare community.
