Don was injured in 1976 at the age of 16 when he dove into a swimming pool. Don uses a manual wheelchair daily, with power assist, for longer days of pushing. Enjoying complete independence, Don drives a mini-van with hand controls and a six-way power seat. He found that the most challenging aspect of returning home was relearning activities of daily living (ADLs). “I felt like I had to keep doing them repeatedly,” he said. Don is available to discuss all aspects of living with a spinal cord injury.
