Brooks Adaptive Sports has a new set of wheels.

The program was recently awarded a $14,570 grant from the National Alliance for Accessible Golf to help purchase a new Paramobile golf cart. The addition of the new cart will allow golfers more flexibility and comfort on the course, and increase the amount of people the program can serve.

The Brooks Adaptive Sports and Recreation program is an important part of the Brooks Rehabilitation System of Care. The programย is designed to connect peopleย with disabilitiesย as a community once they have left clinical rehabilitation. Participants develop life-long friendships through activities ranging from Bowling to Basketball.

In addition to the grant for the paramobile cart, Brooks also received a $2,400 grant towards increasing golfย instruction. This funding is aimed at transforming the adaptive golf instruction into a weekly event generally hosted at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

โ€œThe biggest things that I like about the cart is that you can go in the sand with it, itโ€™s more maneuverable, and I can stand straight up with it,โ€ said Adaptive Sports participant Luther Delp. โ€œItโ€™s just a great golf cart!โ€
