Staff Physiatrist, Brooks Rehabilitation – University and Bartram Campuses

Charles M. Dempsey, MD, joined the Brooks Medical Group in March 2015, moving to Jacksonville from Spring Hill, FL.

Dr. Dempsey is a doctor of physical medicine and rehabilitation. He began his studies with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University, and continued with a Doctor of Medicine from South Carolina School of Medicine. He interned at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina and did his residency at University of Texas Health Science Center.

Dr. Dempsey has spent his medical career helping patients rehabilitate in acute and post-acute settings. Before joining Brooks, he was the medical director of Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Spring Hill. Dr. Dempsey can be seen daily at Bartram Crossing talking to guests and their families as he takes an active role in seeing that each guest reaches his or her maximum potential.

While completing his BS at San Diego State University, Dr. Dempsey coached the SDSU intercollegiate cycling team and also raced at the Category II level with the United States Cycling Federation. When not working, Dr. Dempsey keeps active with cycling, surfing, and sports car racing. He also owns and pilots an aircraft. Since moving the Jacksonville area, Dr. Dempsey is enjoying teaching his daughter to surf.
