Rebecca experienced a stroke in 2016 at the age of 46, which left her with a left-side deficit, aphasia and fatigue. She does not use assistive devices for mobility. One of Rebecca’s biggest challenges was learning new communication techniques. She still faces communication difficulties today, particularly keeping up with the pace of conversations with people who haven’t had a stroke. Her home was not adapted to accommodate a wheelchair, and her chair did not fit through doorways. Rebecca has participated in Adaptive Sports and Recreation and has utilized the resources available at the Neuro Recovery Center.
