Video Transcript
Welcome to the Brooks Rehabilitation public health education series on constipation.
In this video, I’ll be discussing toileting posture.
Keep in mind that these recommendations are not appropriate for people who have had a hip replacement.
If you’re someone who is struggling with constipation frequently, it might help to put yourself in a good position on the toilet.
To do this, you wanna try and have your knees elevated a little bit higher than your hips like this. So I’m using a Squatty Potty, but it’s basically just a stool and you can use anything you have around the house to kind of elevate your feet a little bit and then you wanna try to lean forward like this.
And what this does is relax the pelvic floor which can help me having a bowel movement easier, safer, more complete.
