Nursing certifications: What do I need to be a nurse at Brooks Rehabilitation?
Back to physical health resource hub
What is nursing specialty certification?
Specialty certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role in maintaining high standards of care for patients and families. Nursing has become increasingly complex. While a registered nurse (RN) license provides entry to the general practice of nursing, the knowledge-intensive requirements of specialty nursing requires extensive education and a strong personal commitment to excellence by the nurse.
Does post-acute care offer nursing certification?
Brooks Rehabilitation encourages certification for all of its nurses. Many nursing certifications exist that are relevant to post acute care, such as rehabilitation (CRRN), wound care (WCC), heart failure, medical-surgical and case management.
What if I do not have a nursing license, degree or I am not a certified nursing assistant?
At Brooks, we are looking for compassionate individuals who are willing to be trained and serve as patient care attendants (PCAs) to provide direct resident care under the supervision and direction of a nurse. The PCA serves as an invaluable link between a resident and the nursing care team. If you are looking for a career in improving the quality of life for our residents, we would love to speak with you to help you learn more.
Following completion of an 8-hour training program, you will be ready to assist nursing team members by completing selected allowable duties such as assisting with activities of daily living or providing companionship to our residents in our assisted living and long-term care settings.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with select resident activities of daily living (oral care, bathing, dressing, meals, toileting)
- Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patients
- Obtaining resident temperatures
