Community Services and Programs

The depth and breadth of Brooks Rehabilitationโ€™s community programs and services are unique from any other health system โ€“ rehabilitation or acute โ€“ in the country. From adaptive sports to our Aphasia Center and Brain Injury Clubhouse โ€“ plus, much more in between โ€“ these programs provide a variety of health and wellness options that promote the physical, social and emotional well-being of those with differing abilities.

Through generous partners, supporters and volunteers, Brooks removes barriers to participation by offering all our programs at little or no cost for participants of all ages and backgrounds.

Adaptive Sports & Recreation

Brooks Rehabilitation offers the most comprehensive adaptive sports and recreation program in the country, providing fun and fitness for people of all ages living with a physical disability. Program participants can enjoy competitive or recreational team and individual sports, plus a variety of other wellness and fitness activities.

School Re-entry

The Brooks School Re-entry Program (BSRP) is an ongoing program that maximizes a childโ€™s successful transition back to school following a disabling illness or injury.

Neuro Recovery Centers

The Brooks Rehabilitation Neuro Recovery Centers (NRC) offers specialized equipment for customized rehabilitation. This unique gym allows individuals with disabilities to continue ongoing exercise and conditioning to maintain and improve functional movement and abilities.

Brain Injury Clubhouse

The Brooks Clubhouse is a community health program that provides for the long-term recovery needs of individuals who have suffered an acquired brain injury. This day program bridges the gap between medical rehabilitation, vocational training, and community reintegration. It is currently the only Brain Injury Clubhouse in Florida and one of only 24 in the world.

Brooks Rehabilitation Aphasia Center

The Aphasia Center at Brooks provides comprehensive support for participants affected by aphasia due to stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors or other neurological disorders. The center offers two programs, including a community track and an intensive track.

Pediatric Recreation

The Pediatric Recreation program offers a supportive environment for youth with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The program increases socialization through activities that foster a healthy lifestyle and community connection. Family support is also available for those seeking opportunities for their children outside of traditional therapies.

Clinical Research

The Brooks Clinical Research Center is devoted to generating new knowledge and integrating the latest research discoveries that improve patient outcomes and quality of life into clinical practice. We offer patients and the community the opportunity to participate in innovative research studies that are focused on expanding the knowledge and science of recovery.

Motion Analysis Center

The Brooks Motion Analysis Center (MAC) is a specialized clinical and research assessment facility focused on movement impairments in people of all ages. The expert team includes physical therapists and engineers dedicated to advancing science and recovery.

Wellness

Experts from Brooks Rehabilitation have teamed up with local YMCAs of Florida to offer an individualized and supervised exercise program for stroke and brain injury survivors, as well as those battling Parkinsonโ€™s disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

Brooks services are available to patients at our three rehabilitation hospitals, 50 outpatient clinics, home health care servicesโ€“spanning 23 Florida counties, and community programs.
