Brooks Among Top Rehab Hospitals for Patient Satisfaction

We know that improving a patient’s hospital experience is an integral part of delivering high quality rehabilitation.

In our recent Press-Ganey patient survey results, Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital ranked in the 99^th percentile in patient satisfaction for all freestanding US Rehab hospitals.  Last week hospital staff celebrated all of the improvements they’ve made to ensure our patients receive the best care possible.

Over the last 12 months there has been a steady improvement in overall patient satisfaction. This time last year  the hospital ranked in the 94^th percentile. These improvements are due to a concerted effort put forth by the clinical staff.

“We have been focusing on improving several areas that effect overall patient experience”, says Corliss Oglesby, Patient Advocate. “A lot of it is centered on education, training, and planning between hospital staff, patients, and families.”

Our ultimate goal is to ease the burden of illness or injury for all of the people we serve by giving them the best experience possible.

Some interesting improvements include instituting a team conference for every patient on a weekly basis. During these team conferences the physicians, nursing staff, therapy staff, case managers, patients, and family discuss the goals and plans of treatment. This allows patients and their families to ask questions of their entire care team at the same time.  It also helps them feel included in their plan of care.

A patient orientation class was also added to address expectations.  During class, patients were told what they could expect in rehabilitation, what they would need and what their days would be like.  This helped ease concerns early on in the recovery process.
