Brooks Rehabilitation Receives Magnet Re-Certification!

Hi, my name’s Corinne Romano. I’m the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer of Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. And I’m excited to talk with you today about Magnet.

Magnet is the highest designation for nursing care in the world. It signifies that our nursing care exceeds national benchmarks and quality and patient experience and that our nursing staff satisfaction is high.

To give you a few statistics of 6,090 hospitals in the USA, only 547 hold this designation not only five free standing rehabs in the country that are Magnet.

And we’re proud to say that this is Brooks second time receiving the Magnet designation. Magnet demonstrates that Brooks rehabilitation recognizes the invaluable potential of our nurses to lead healthcare change by giving them influence over decisions that affect their practice.

Congratulations to each and every one of our incredible nurses. This milestone achievement in the midst of pandemic is a testament to this incredible nursing team. I have never been proud of to be a nurse and I’m grateful to work for such an amazing group of professionals.

I am so proud to acknowledge all the nursing staff and all the shared governance councils for their hard work over the past several years to sustain our Magnet culture of excellence. It’s amazing the outcomes you have achieved.

Practicing at a Magnet designated facility means you aim higher. Higher patient outcomes, more evidence-based practice, greater satisfaction with your work environment.

Everyone works daily to support each other and our professional practice environments with the focus on quality, autonomy and strong collegial relationships among the care teams including excellent nurse physician relationships.

We are very proud to be one of the very few Magnet recognized freestanding rehabilitation hospitals in the country.

I know the virtual site visit we completed in April with a brand new process and it was so exciting to watch how you were able to demonstrate that Magnet culture virtually.
