Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Jacyln Jefferson and I’m a physical therapist here at Brooks Rehabilitation.
Today I am going to demonstrate how to get up from a fall.
Step one, stay calm and still. Don’t move for a few minutes as moving too quickly could result in more harm.
Next, figure out if you’re injured. Slowly move your hands and feet, arms and legs to check for pain.
If no injury presents slowly roll onto your side then take a moment to rest.
From there push up into a crawling position then crawl on hands and knees to a sturdy chair or a piece of furniture. Place both hands on the
chair one at a time.
From here take your strongest leg and bring it up to a 90 degree angle, planting the foot flat on the ground. Your other leg will be in a kneeling position.
Then pushing through your arms and legs stand up and then lower yourself slowly onto the chair. Take a few moments to catch your breath before doing anything else.
We will be adding more videos on fall prevention tips and exercises to help reduce your risk of falling.
