The Motion Analysis Center Hosts National Biomechanics Day Event at Local High Schools
Back to physical health resource hub
In honor of National Biomechanics Day, the Brooks Motion Analysis Center (MAC) spoke with more than 180 local high school students in the Jacksonville, Fla., area. National Biomechanics Day, recognized on April 5, is a global initiative that seeks to expand the influence and impact of biomechanics on our society.
The MAC team presented to medical academy students at Mandarin High School and Andrew Jackson High School who are pursuing careers in healthcare, medicine and rehabilitation. The presentation taught the students how our diverse team of physical therapists, research scientists, public health professionals and exercise physiologists apply biomechanics to improve patient care. The students also learned about health careers involving biomechanics, as well as applications to research and understanding patient outcomes.
โThe MAC is a specialized clinical and research assessment facility focused on walking and movement impairments in people of all ages. We use innovative technology, expert clinical examination and biomechanical analysis to guide and advance clinical care,โ said Christy Conroy, PT, MSPT, NCS, MAC Center Manager. โWe look forward to speaking with our future healthcare professionals every year about the importance of biomechanics and its diverse applications in healthcare and science. We canโt wait to do it again next year.โ
