Brooks Rehabilitation is pleased to collaborate with the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program at Mayo Clinic. The program is designed for medical students interested in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) to learn how to provide exceptional rehabilitative care for patients through clinical and research training.

The four-year categorical program is an opportunity to train in a world-class medical institution while gaining hands-on experience in one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the region.

The residency will include working with an interdisciplinary team of experts in a wide array of fields, including:

  • Nursing
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech-Language Pathology
  • Psychology
  • Social Work

About the Residency Program

Dr. Tribuzio of Brooks oversees a patient in wheelchair's physical therapy progress. Residents will complete their first year of training (PGY1) in the Internal Medicine Preliminary Year Program at Mayo Clinic Florida (MCF). Then, they will undergo 12 months of rotations for inpatient rehabilitation at Brooks Rehabilitation’s inpatient hospital, including pediatrics. In the final 24 months of the program, residents will receive outpatient musculoskeletal and neurologic clinics, electromyography and acute hospital consults at MCF.

How to Apply

Students in their final year of medical school who are interested in continued specialization with a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation can apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Successful candidates will be accepted through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

The program has received Initial Accreditation as of July 1, 2023, and will welcome its first class of two students each year beginning July 1, 2024.
