Jacksonville, Fla., May 28, 2021 โ€“ Brooks Rehabilitation recently purchased a 14-acre plot of land on S.R. 207 at the intersection of I-95 in St. Augustine, Fla. The property was selected based on its strategic location and the significant growth occurring in St. Johns County.

โ€œBrooks has been a recognized leader in physical rehabilitation for more than 50 years. Purchasing this land is an investment in the long-term future expansion of our system of care,โ€ said Doug Baer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brooks Rehabilitation. โ€œWhile we do not have immediate plans for its specific use, we want to position Brooks to meet the rehabilitation needs of this rapidly growing region.โ€

Brooks currently operates seven outpatient therapy clinics in St. Johns County with more than 40 throughout Florida. Their system of care also includes: one of the nationโ€™s largest inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Jacksonville, Fla., one of the regionโ€™s largest home healthcare agencies, a Center for Inpatient Rehabilitation in partnership with Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, the Brooks Rehabilitation Medical Group, the Clinical Research Center, two skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and memory care.

In Jan. 2021, Brooks broke ground on an inpatient rehabilitation hospital on their Bartram Park campus in South Jacksonville, a 30-minute drive from this 14-acre plot. The new 60-bed hospital on the Bartram campus will care for patients after a brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury or other disabling illness or injury.

As Brooks continues to expand to meet the needs in the communities it serves, they will continue to assess the St. Augustine market and surrounding region to determine the best use for the new property. There is currently no timeline for development.
