Brooks offers a wide range of therapy services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and much more. Our therapists receive some of the highest and most intensive training in the country in order to help our patient achieve their highest level of recovery.
Our therapy services are offered across our system of care including inpatient, outpatient and skilled nursing. Below is more information about therapy in each of these settings.
Inpatient Therapy Services
As a patient in our inpatient rehabilitation hospital, patients are assigned to a comprehensive care team which includes a primary rehab physician, nursing team as well as a physical, occupational and speech therapist. The team works closely with each patient and their family to determine an individual care plan that meets preferences and needs in order to return home or to the next level of care where progress can continue.
Our goal is to restore function and quality of life with an emphasis on maximizing your independence in self-care tasks, mobility, communication and cognition. We partner directly with our patients and families through comprehensive training, equipment selection and hard work to ensure that patients feel prepared and with the resources needed to continue the recovery journey.
Outpatient Therapy Services
The outpatient division of Brooks Rehabilitation provides excellent care for patients with a variety of conditions. We have programs and therapists who specialize in the areas of orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics, sports, women’s health and oncology. Our clinical expertise in physical, occupational and speech therapy stems from the desire for our therapists to complete credentialed Residency and Fellowship Programs as well as achieve Board Certification in their area of specialty. Our traditional therapy programs are augmented by an immense variety of specialty programs, innovative technology and equipment, and community programs.
Patients can expect a thorough examination and comprehensive treatment plan that is based on the most recent evidence and tailored to individual needs and goals. We work collaboratively within our system to ensure that patients receive world-class care.
Skilled Nursing Therapy Services
At Bartram Crossing and University Crossing, we offer physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We service both short-term and long-term residents. Bartram Crossing also offers outpatient therapies at their location. Both locations have therapy staff members every day, including weekends and holidays. We each have beautiful facilities with the option of an outdoor therapy courtyard. Therapy schedules are customized for each patient based on their plan of care.
Our therapy teams are designated to specific diagnoses and divided into programmatic teams as follows; cardiac, medically complex, orthopedic, and neurological. Each diagnosis group has therapists specifically trained to treat these diagnoses.
Continued Education for Therapists
The Brooks Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) has six physical therapist advanced clinical post-professional residencies all accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE). We have graduated nearly 150 residents over the last 12 years and currently have approximately 70 of those graduates practicing within Brooks. The programs also prepare clinicians to sit for the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification exam in their respective specialty areas. We also have an occupational therapy neurologic fellowship program, which is recognized by the American Occupational Therapy Association and a physical therapist orthopaedic manual physical therapist fellowship program accredited by the ABPTRFE.
The Brooks IHL also provides a robust library of continuing education credit courses, which support each clinician’s need for continued growth and development. The Brooks IHL currently offers more than 50 courses each year for rehabilitation practitioners, including PT, PTA, OT, OTA, SLP and nursing disciplines. Topics span a broad range of specialty areas, including but not limited to, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Health, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Sports, and Speech.
