Central Vestibular Dysfunction


Central Vestibular Dysfunction is a peripheral vestibular issue indicates that the source of the problem lies outside of the brain. It is related to the small balance structures in the inner ear. A central vestibular dysfunction indicates an issue with the central nervous system structures that may include the brain / cerebellum / brain stem. Issues can be related to damage that occurs to those structures such as when someone has a stroke or the inability of the brain to process and interpret the information that is coming from the body.
